There are many brands of instruments out there, but I want to highlight just a few of the top brands available. For violins, Stradivarius has been a popular producing company since the 1680s, although back then many other violin producers copied the Stradivarius name on their own violins. A Stradivarius violin made by the actual Stradivari family from the 1680s could be worth hundreds of thousands today. The high quality of the Stradivarius brand supposedly results from the extreme consistency of the wood used and no change in growth pattern of the trees used for the wood.

Fender is a well-known producer of guitars. Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is headquartered in Arizona. It was established in 1946 in California, though, by Leo Fender under the name of Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company. It is home of the first mass-produced electric bass. Others had produced electric guitars as early as the 1920s on a small scale. They produce many other stringed instruments, amplifiers, and PA systems. Leo Fender had started off as an electronic technician, making repairs on radios, phonographs, and amplifiers. After starting to produce instruments he decided it was much more profitable and became solely a manufacturer. It is still a privately held company.
Yamaha was established in 1887 in Japan. It was originally just a piano and reed organ manufacturer. It is still a very popular brand in pianos. Now Yamaha is actually the world’s largest manufacturer of musical instruments. In quality, my father’s Gibson guitar is far exceeded by his Yamaha guitar in sound and ease of playing.
Along the same lines, when the phonograph was invented it helped spread the sound of musicians and their instruments, which in turn probably increased the sale of instruments. Thomas Edison invented the phonograph in 1877 in New Jersey.

There is an ongoing debate as to whether modern violins sound better than older instruments. It is interesting to note that all the older violins have had changes made to them to make them serviceable for modern performance requirements. Interesting about the Yamaha vs. Gibson guitars.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find interesting is that Greg Bailey, from the Homestead Pickers in my previous posts, actually takes the instruments that he makes (sometimes buys) and lays them on top of a speaker for a couple days (or maybe a week - I can't remember for sure). The vibrations from the speaker going non-stop supposedly wear the instrument in. I don't know how well this really works or how, but his instruments have a great resonating quality.
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of that before, but violinists agree that instruments play better when they are used.

1 Problem: HP Printer not connecting to my laptop.
ReplyDeleteI had an issue while connecting my 2 year old HP printer to my brother's laptop that I had borrowed for starting my own business. I used a quick google search to fix the problem but that did not help me.
I then decided to get professional help to solve my problem. After having received many quotations from various companies, i decided to go ahead with Online Tech Repair (www.onlinetechrepairs.com).
Reasons I chose them over the others:
1) They were extremely friendly and patient with me during my initial discussions and responded promptly to my request.
2) Their prices were extremely reasonable.
3) They were ready and willing to walk me through the entire process step by step and were on call with me till i got it fixed.
How did they do it
1) They first asked me to state my problem clearly and asked me a few questions. This was done to detect any physical connectivity issues with the printer.
2) After having answered this, they confirmed that the printer and the laptop were functioning correctly.
3) They then, asked me if they could access my laptop remotely to troubleshoot the problem and fix it. I agreed.
4) One of the tech support executives accessed my laptop and started troubleshooting.
5) I sat back and watched as the tech support executive was navigating my laptop to spot the issue. The issue was fixed.
6) I was told that it was due to an older version of the driver that had been installed.
My Experience
I loved the entire friendly conversation that took place with them. They understood my needs clearly and acted upon the solution immediately. Being a technical noob, i sometimes find it difficult to communicate with tech support teams. It was a very different experience with the guys at Online Tech Repairs. You can check out their website www.onlinetechrepairs.com or call them on 1-914-613-3786.
Would definitely recommend this service to anyone who needs help fixing their computers.
Thanks a ton guys. Great Job....!!
